Kenyan police have commenced investigations in search of a man who is suspected of stabbing a guard to death outside the country’s presidential office on Monday.
The attack has since been touted as a major security lapse spotted around a rather delicate area of the nation.
The investigating team, who have been giving 14 days to prove the suspect as guilty, appealed to a court on Tuesday for more time.
Police say the man walked to the State House main gate disguised as a homeless person and stabbed a security officer in the chest using a bow and arrow. The officer was pronounced dead at a hospital. The man was arrested at the scene.
It was unclear if the suspect, Kithuka Kimunyi, knew the officer, identified as Ramadhan Hamisi Matanka but is set to go through mental health assessment.
