The funeral planning committee for the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, has officially announced that Thursday, 18th September 2025, will be observed as a day of solemn reflection and reverence across the Ashanti Region.

In honour of the Queenmother’s final funeral rites, all schools, banks, offices, and commercial establishments will remain closed. The directive is part of the traditional protocols surrounding the burial of a royal figure of such stature.

Residents are expected to stay indoors from 3:00 PM until dawn on Friday, as the burial procession moves from Manhyia Palace to the royal mausoleum at Breman.

This period of silence and stillness is a sacred tradition, symbolizing respect and mourning for the departed matriarch.

The committee has emphasized that no movement, trading, or public gatherings will be permitted during this time.

The city will come to a standstill as dignitaries, traditional leaders, and the public pay their final respects to a woman whose legacy shaped the cultural and spiritual fabric of Asanteman.
