Kwakye Ofosu rejects probe in Ablekuma North violence

Minister of State in Charge of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Minister of State in Charge of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has rejected calls by the Minority Caucus for an independent probe into the violence that erupted during the Ablekuma North Parliamentary Rerun.

He accused the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) of hypocrisy, claiming the party had normalized electoral violence during its eight years in power.

“A party that endorsed violence during elections cannot come today and call for investigations. It is those of us who condemned it in the past and are condemning it today who can make such a call.”

He cited past incidents in Akwatia and other constituencies, alleging that NPP officials had previously threatened violence while now demanding accountability.

“Their officials are on record as having vowed that there will be violence in Akwatia. Even as they call for action to be taken, they are threatening violence”.
