Minister designate for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has announced plans to revive the collection of road tolls through digitalization.

Speaking during his vetting on Monday January 20, 2025, Mr. Agbodza expressed positivity in bringing back the road toll and making it easier for drivers to pay.

‘’Yes, the road tolls would be coming back, but not in a form of building obstructions on the road for drivers to stop and somebody taking money from them’’.

Explaining plans to digitalize road toll, Mr. Agbodza reiterated his commitment to ensuring fairness, accountability and accessibility for all.

He mentioned that, plans would be done through a collective effort with all stakeholders in the road sector.

‘’It would be coming back based on a technological platform that makes it fair and easy to collect, easy to account for, and for the public to know what the monies would be used for. Together with the roads ministry we shall come out with the policy as to how that would be done’’.
