The year 2018 has been an exciting and intriguing year in the entertainment industry, filled with enough drama to last Ghana a lifetime.

This is a summary of some of the drama that has put the industry on fire so far this year. Some will make you laugh; others will shock you, while others will keep you shaking your head.

Moesha Boduong’s CNN interview

Ghanaian actress and model Moesha Boduong courted controversy on social media after she told CNN that her motivation for dating a married man, just like other women in Ghana, is because the economy is not good.

“In Ghana our economy is such a way that you need someone to take care of you. You can’t make enough money as a woman here. Because even when you want to get an apartment, in Ghana they take two years’ advance and I just started working where will I get money to pay?”

Stunned by Moesha’s revelation, CNN’s Christine Amanpour asked her “are you basically telling me that you are having sex with this guy to pay your rent?”

Moesha responds, “Because he can afford to take care of you. He takes care of me, my financials, my apartment, my car, my rent everything. He expects me to be loyal and take care of him and give him sex when he wants.”

Shatta Wale exposes dick on snap chat

On the Snapchat page of self-proclaimed dancehall king of Ghana, Shatta Wale was a video of a woman sucking his and that of a friend’s d*ck .

The since-deleted video created yet another storm around the “Gringo” hitmaker and left fans and the music industry as a whole confused about the state of the artist’s mind.

NAYAS and Ernest Opoku

Gladys Mensah Boaku, CEO of NAYAS Film Production revealed popular gospel artiste Ernest Opoku reportedly put her in the family way but fearing reproach from the general public, convinced the her to have an abortion and promised to give her GH¢5,000 and some pieces of cloth.

NAYAS further revealed that the ace gospel musician after having sex with her told her to consult a native doctor for protection so she can sustain her career in the movie industry. Ernest later admitted to having a relationship and blamed it on the devil. NAYAS then stormed Adom FM during a live worship session with Ernest and lashed him. As the story unfolded, it later turned out NAYAS was not pregnant after all.

Ebony’s father and Bullet

Few months after losing Ebony Nana Opoku Kwarteng, her father, made several comments on issues that were related to his daughter’s death including the fact that her management was responsible for her death. Ebony’s father granted several interviews after his daughter was crowned the artiste of the year at the 19th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards held at the Accra International Conference Center. There was a back and forth exchange between the two over a period of time with each threatening to expose secrets of each other. After being accused abusing and cheating and stealing from Ebony before and after her death, Bullet decided to hand over 100% royalties and unreleased songs to Ebony’s dad.

Wendy Shay ‘dumb’ question saga

A viral video made rounds on the internet showing the ‘Bedroom Commando’ singer verbally abusing a reporter Mz Gee for doing her job. The interview which started off on calm waters sunk very quickly when Wendy Shay abruptly ended the interview on the grounds of being asked a ‘dumb’ question.

After giving a preview of various songs she had under her belt and asking Ghanaians to accept her for who she is as Wendy Shay. The reporter followed up by asking, “Who is Wendy Shay?” Apparently, the musician got irked by the question and responded by saying, “Who am I as Wendy Shay? … Can we cut the question … this is a dumb question.”

Some social media users angrily descended on her for that encounter with Mz Gee.

Willie Roy, Mr. Logic, Stonebwoy saga

Artiste Manager and Entertainment critic Mr Logic revealed that Willie Roi who is the Artiste & Repertoire (A&R) Manager at Zylofon Music withheld requests for international collaborations from dancehall artiste Stonebwoy.

According to Mr Logic, American superstars R. Kelly and Teddy Riley had sent messages that they wanted to collaborate with Stonebwoy, who is signed to Zylofon Music. Willi Roi in his reaction to the above news revealed that the American artist mentioned above contacted him when they were looking at Zylofon portfolio and chose Stonebwoy as the possible artiste they want to feature. According to him you don’t talk to your artiste until the deal is set. Stonebwoy reacted saying, “I was happy about the Willie Roi stuff, this is where work and talent work. I am sure that if he could turn it around for someone else, he could. He could drag it back but it will always happen. I am actually free-spirited and observing and I think it works for the greater good”

Asked whether he is happy at his current Zylofon Music record label, he said no he is not happy. Willie Roi also called him rude saying “What I don’t like is his rudeness he displays anytime I want to talk to him.”

Sarkodie ‘Advice’ to Shatta Wale

Shatta Wale in some interviews called Kwaw Kesse and Sarkodie poor. In reaction to this Sarkodie recorded an indirect diss song he  called ‘Advice’ and it got the whole of Ghana talking saying Sarkodie completely ‘killed’ Shatta Wale.

Shatta Wale calls Ghana a village

Controversial dancehall musician Shatta Wale sparked controversy over seemingly obnoxious comments he made about Ghana at the ‘Reign Unveiled’ concert held in London.

After delivering a sterling performance to over 2,000 fans in the O2 arena, he paused and described Ghana as a village.

“I just wanna share that word with you. Shatta Wale is a very nice guy. All that you keep reading about me on Google from Ghana…Ghana is a village, say village, village.” Many industry players and Ghana as a whole took offence and reacted to this statement.

Shatta Wale shows ass on stage

Maybe Sarkodie should add prophet to his long titles as the rapper’s industry as his prophesy has come to light.

Shatta Wale has indeed fulfilled Sarkodie’s prophecy that he will one day show his buttocks to the public.

Award winning Rapper, Sarkodie went hard on Shatta Wale in his freestyle song titled ‘Advice’ in which he jabbed Shatta Wale for being insolent.

One of the lines in the Freestyle was: You Show Dick, One Day You Go Show Buttocks”

And the prophecy has come to pass as Shatta Wale has been seen in a video showing his buttocks on stage in Dusseldorf (Germany).

In the video trending on social media, Shatta Wale is seen on stage showing his buttocks to the fans while they cheered him.

These are but a few of the scandals recorded so far in 2018. Let us see what the remaining days in 2018 has in store for the entertainment industry.

Stonebwoy, Bulldog shooting

There was uproar at Paloma Hotel in Accra when music producer Bulldog allegedly attacked Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy and his crew who were holding a mini concert at the hotel.

Gunshots rang in the hotel causing panic among guests and hotel staff.

A younger brother of the musician, who was at the concert is said to have been injured and has made a complaint of assault and theft against Bulldog born Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson at the Nima Police station.

Eyewitnesses said Bulldog’s men hit Stonebwoy’s brother, snatched his wallet containing an unspecified amount of money and attempted to seize the musician’s Mercedes Benz.
