John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, has condemned the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for allegedly focusing development projects in regions that have supported them in previous elections, while neglecting others.

Mahama argues that this selective approach hinders equitable development nationwide, pledging to correct this imbalance if elected in the upcoming elections.

During a tour in the Oti Region, on Monday, November 4, 2024, Mahama criticized what he called “regional disparities” in resource allocation under President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration.

He assured the people of Oti that, under his leadership, development would be distributed more fairly, with a focus on providing essential infrastructure that the region has long needed.

“NPP failed to build the regional hospitals because Krachi East indigenes didn’t vote for them. NDC will uphold its promise to Krachi East in terms of infrastructure” he said.

During his visit to Dambai in Krachi East, Mr. Mahama criticized the government for neglecting the urgent healthcare needs of the Oti Region by not establishing a regional hospital.

Chiefs and supporters gathered for the event, including the Chief of Dambai, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, who praised Mahama’s past contributions to local education and healthcare.

However, Nana Besemuna emphasized the region’s need for more robust healthcare infrastructure, especially a regional hospital.

“We are very grateful for the educational infrastructure you developed, which has helped us all these years. We also know you built smaller hospitals in Krachi, but the people are yearning for a regional hospital. We want you to prioritize the regional hospital when voted into power,” Nana Besemuna appealed.
