A renowned economist and former Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Professor Stephen Adei, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for his performance in the first 100 days of his administration.

In an interview with an Accra-based TV station on Thursday, March 6, Prof. Adei highlighted that Mahama’s early months in office have been impressive.

Comparing his tenure to previous administrations since Ghana’s independence, Prof. Adei noted that President Mahama has fared well during his initial period in office.

“His Excellency the President has done very well in his first 100 days. I mean, government after government I was too young to have observed the first 100 days of Nkrumah, but thereafter, when he was overthrown, I was in my final year at training college. So therefore I’ve seen the 100 days of every government since independence, and i will give him a very high score for what he has done,” he stated.

However, he emphasized that the real challenge of leadership lies beyond the early stages, where difficult economic decisions are required to stabilize the economy and ensure long-term growth.

Prof. Adei acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed optimism that President Mahama would continue to make progress.
