The administrative body and teaching staff of Mary Mother of Good Counsel School have applauded outstanding pupil Nana Akua Dokyiwaa Karikari for attaining the role of host for Ghana’s first-ever Wind Summit, organized by the Captain Planet Foundation.
Headmistress of the academic institution, Sr. Francisca Asiedua Appiah (HDR), in an interview with YFM, explained that the school is built upon key values such as discipline, impact, and leadership—principles that are strategically woven into the school’s activities to raise not just excellent students, but future leaders.
Referring to Ms. Karikari as a prime example, she described the fourth grader’s passion for the environment as a core value the institution seeks to instill in all its pupils.
“Nana Akua Dokyiwaa Karikari is a very confident girl. She has that innate sense of leadership in her, and she bringing this initiative to her own school to educate her peers is very laudable.”
The school has chosen to serve as the venue for the Wind Summit, scheduled to take place in late July, as a key expression of support for Nana Akua Dokyiwaa Karikari. In addition, the school has outlined preparatory initiatives to help improve her skills and ensure her delivery as host is at the most optimal level.
Mary Mother of Good Counsel School has also taken progressive steps to begin discussions on the introduction of an environmental club for students, which will be led by Nana Akua Dokyiwaa Karikari. The club will provide a platform for her to consistently share her ideas with the student body throughout the academic year.
The Wind Summit, inspired and funded by the Planeteer Alliance; a body under the Captain Planet Foundation with support from YFM, Mmofra Excellence Foundation and others will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Mary Mother of Good Counsel School – Airport West, Accra, and will host a maximum of 50 participants.
