The Ministry of Defence joins the nation in mourning the late Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, former Minister for Defence, whose visionary leadership left an enduring legacy on the Ghana Armed Forces.

The ministry noted that Dr. Boamah led with diplomacy and inclusivity, fostering unity across the ranks and spearheading the comprehensive modernization of the military. He championed the welfare of both service personnel and civilian staff, strengthened civil–military relations, and upheld the highest standards of professionalism.

His passion for agriculture and digitalization drove innovation within the ministry, while his strategic communication skills deepened public trust and engagement. Under his leadership, the Defence Industries Holding Company Limited was revitalized, setting Ghana on a path toward industrial transformation, aimed at self-sufficiency in military production and reduced reliance on imports.

Colleagues remember his management style as visionary, empowering, and deeply collaborative. He encouraged open dialogue, welcomed fresh ideas, and maintained an open-door policy that made every member of staff feel valued.

Those who worked closely with him recall his humility, fairness, and kindness, a leader who blended intelligence with empathy, working tirelessly to strengthen national security while treating all with respect.

Dr. Boamah envisioned a strong, self-reliant military and a Ghana prepared for industrial growth. That vision will continue to inspire generations.

The outpouring of tributes and condolences from across the nation reflects the profound impact he made not only on the Armed Forces, but on Ghana as a whole. His leadership shaped lives, his kindness touched hearts, and his legacy will endure.
