The Public Relations Officer(PRO) for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Charles Amofa has revealed that the money earned by Ghana’s participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar will be distributed accordingly to other sports disciplines.

The Black Stars of Ghana earned around $12 million for participating in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar despite exiting the tournament at the group stage after finishing bottom of Group H.

Despite the disappointment, the country earned a whopping payout, which was beyond what was anticipated for that stage of the Mundial.

“We know sports in Ghana is capital intensive, the National Sports Authority (NSA) has almost about 50 disciplines affiliated to the authority and we also need to pay attention to these other disciplines as well. The request for competitions both locally and internationally have to be budgeted for and I’m confident when the money comes, the government will give directions as to how to manage and disburse it,” Charles Amofa said on Happy FM.

In our 3 previous World Cup appearances, Ghana earned a total of $24m. ???????? shows how much each World Cup brought us and how it was used.

What is the plan for the $12m earned from the Qatar 2022 World Cup?
