The Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi, says that monies earned from Ghana Premier League clubs, is not enough to run and maintain the stadia in the country.

Mr. Twumasi revealed that clubs spend GHC 00,000 on each Ghana Premier League game, which includes sanitation, security, electricity, and other expenses.
According to Professor Peter Twumasi, the NSA must adopt other measures to generate more funds to run its operations since funds from the Ghana Premier League clubs are not enough.

“The 15% earned by the NSA for match attendance for GPL clubs is not enough, it was agreed that clubs pay advancements before using the stadia but due to considerations, we agreed for the clubs to use the stadia before making advance payments”, he told Odiasempa Kwame Oware.

“Clubs are supposed to pay GHC 110,000 to use the sports stadium per day but no club has agreed or signed any contracts of making such payments, and because of this, the NSA loses GHC 100,000 after every match played,” he disclosed.

Prof. Peter Twumasi further advised Ghanaians to look at the benefits derived from sports stadia and facilities being used for concerts and programs during festive periods instead of concentrating on the negatives.
