The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, has urged the people of the Ashanti Region to rally behind the party’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to win in the upcoming December 7 elections.

Drawing on the region’s history of strong support, NAPO highlighted how unity across the 47 constituencies contributed to the electoral victories of John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo.

He called on the people to show the same level of commitment and backing for Dr. Bawumia in this election.

“As the heartbeat of the NPP, the Ashanti Region’s overwhelming support and votes were crucial in helping our party elect capable leaders like John Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo as presidents. Now, it’s time to extend the same support to our dynamic and development-driven leader, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he stated.

NAPO emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s qualities, describing him as a visionary, hard working, patriotic leader deserving of the party’s support to “break the eight” and create history.

He expressed confidence that, just as the region backed Kufuor in 2000 and 2004, and Akufo-Addo in 2016 and 2020, they would once again support Dr. Bawumia to retain power and continue the NPP’s development agenda.

Speaking to the chiefs and people of Kokofu in the Bekwai Constituency, NAPO emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s qualification to succeed President Akufo-Addo, urging voters to prioritize competence over ethnic or religious considerations when making their decision at the polls.

This election isn’t about ethnicity, tribe, or religion. It’s about choosing the right leader to carry on the good works of President Akufo-Addo, and that person is Dr. Bawumia,” he said.

He praised Dr. Bawumia’s experience, noting that his eight-year tenure as Vice President, free of corruption allegations, proves his readiness for leadership.

“Dr. Bawumia has diligently served this country without a single accusation of corruption. With him in charge, our national finances will be safe,” he added.
