NDC is a party of choice and not discriminatory – Benard Oduro Takyi

The opposition National Democratic Congress has today, Sunday, September 26, officially outdoored Mr Bernard Oduro Takyi and his supporters to the NDC at Kwatire, his hometown in the Sunyani West Constituency in the Bono Region.

Mr Bernard Oduro Takyi, a former Presiding Member of the Sunyani West Assembly and his supporters were welcomed by the Executives and members of the Umbrella family amidst jubilation at a brief but historic occasion at the premises of the Kwatire – Adantia Middle School.

In a brief speech, Mr Benard Oduro Takyi stated that NDC is a party that doesn’t select rich from the poor or select poor from the rich but it is a party of choice and not discriminatory. He stated that there were a lot of problems and discrimination associated with the NPP and therefore he can’t work with people with a discriminatory attitude.

Mr. Benard Oduro stated that the party NDC has people of truth, peace, love and are ready to serve without fear or favour. He made mention of names like Jerry John Rawlings the founder of the party as someone who never entertained the act of corruption in the country.

Bernard Oduro Takyi, affectionately referred to as B. O. T. was an active member in good standing of the ruling New Patriotic Party for many years.

Mr Bernard Oduro Takyi, having passed through the rank and file of the New Patriotic Party, picked up a nomination form for the NPP 2020 Parliamentary Primaries for the Sunyani West Constituency to contest the incumbent Member of Parliament( Ignatius Baffour Awuah ) but he was mysteriously disqualified without any cogent reason assigned to his disqualification.

Mr Bernard Oduro Takyi, who was not pleased with the decision by the vetting committee to disqualify him appealed to the National Executives of the NPP to impress upon the Regional Vetting Committee to come out with the reasons for his disqualification but his petition fell on deaf ears.

He then decided to break away from the NPP with his supporters to contest as an independent candidate in the 2020 Parliamentary election in the Sunyani West Constituency.

He said that, even though in life there are many failures, there is always an opportunity to begin again; this time more intelligently without regret and therefore he is pleading with all members of NDC to work together to bring the party to power in 2024.

He also advised all youth and members of the party NDC to be vigilant and work harder to raise the name of the party higher.
