GFA acquires new referee Communication gadgets

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Referee’s Manager, Alex Kotey, says the new equipment secured by the FA will serve as an extra eye for referee’s in discharging their duties.

The GFA recently acquired ten sets of communication gadgets which is aimed at helping referees when football restarts.

Speaking in an interview with Joe Debrah on Wamputu Sports on Happy 98.9FM Kotey explained how the gadgets will improve officiating, “The Communication gadget is a tool that helps officiating to go on. It will become an additional eye for the referees.

“These gadgets are very sensitive and new. It can record all the proceedings for 90 minutes
These gadgets were recommended to the GFA by CAF.

“The communication gadget will help the assistant referees in communicating better with the center referee during games”.

He revealed that the GFA is set to acquire additional sets of Communication gadgets which will be used by officials in the Division One and the Women’s League.

Retired referee Alex Kotey added that the GFA is hoping to acquire other gadgets such as electronic sprays, flags, substitute boards and many others.

“Another 10 sets of communication gets will also come to be used by the Division One and women’s league”

On the relationship between the GFA and the Referee’s Association of Ghana (RAG), he said, “GFA and RAG will still be in contact. If the structures begin to work then we will faze out RAG”.

He concluded that the target set by the GFA for referees is to ignite passion and also ensure a Ghanaian officiates at any FIFA World Cup tournament.
