President John Dramani Mahama has pledged sweeping reforms in Ghana’s land administration system, calling for an end to corruption, impunity, and mismanagement.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new Lands Commission Board in Accra, Mahama declared, “Never again shall the custodians of our nation’s land act with impunity or indifference.”
He described land as central to Ghana’s development and identity, but warned that the current system is plagued by “confusion, conflict, expropriation, and violence.”
“No era of our national life is in greater need of a reset than our land administration system,” Mahama said.
He condemned the illegal sale and appropriation of public lands, blaming “influential individuals who view public office as personal entitlement.”
The President charged the new board to restore public trust and protect Ghana’s land resources for future generations.
