Checks by Happy FM reveal that voting at the Ellembelle Constituency of the Western Region of Ghana had not started as at this morning due to electoral materials not reaching the voting centre on time

In a press release, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said voting is to start at 9am to 3pm, a move the party asserts is to pave way for early counting.

Happy FM’s correspondent, Paa Duea said voting may be extended to 5pm due to the late start of the process caused by the late arrival of electoral materials to the polling station in the constituency.

Regional breakdown

The Ashanti Region has three of the NPP “orphan constituencies”, Asawasi, Ejura Sekyeredumasi and Sekyere Afram Plains.

Ahafo Region has two, Asutifi South and Asunafo South.

NPP has six orphan constituencies in Bono East.

Central Region has four whilst Eastern Region has six constituencies out of the total 33 in the region.
Greater Accra has 13 orphan constituencies.

Northern region has nine and North East has three – Chereponi, Yagaba-Kobore and Yunyoo.
The Savannah region has six, Upper East has 12 and Upper West has six each.

All 18 constituencies in the Volta are orphan for the NPP whilst the Western Region has four.
The NPP is today conducting parliamentary primaries in 104 constituencies.

These are steps the NPP is taking to win some of its seats in the 2020 general elections.

The party will at a later date organise parliamentary primaries in the 169 constituencies where it already has sitting MPs.
