The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has disclosed that private cars are involved in more road accidents in Ghana than commercial vehicles.
Speaking on the Happy98.9 FM’s Morning show with Kwadwo Sefah- Danquah the Public Relations Officer of the Authority, Pearl Adusu-Sateckla said although commercial drivers are often criticized for reckless driving, data shows that a higher number of crashes involve private vehicle users. Factors such as over-speeding, distracted driving, and disregard for traffic regulations have been identified as key causes.
She described the trend as worrying, stressing that private car owners must take greater responsibility for road safety.
She also urged all drivers to prioritize discipline, avoid risky behavior, and adhere strictly to traffic laws in order to reduce Ghana’s high rate of road accidents.
