Market women at Nsawam in the Eastern Region are lamenting poor sales, citing a significant decline in patronage. According to them, the situation has been persistent for months, affecting their livelihoods and businesses.

Speaking to Happyghana.com on the sidelines of Happy 98.9FM’s Happy on Wheel show at Nsawam Lorry station, the market women attributed the low sales to the economic hardship in the country, which has led to a reduction in disposable income for many consumers.

“We sell foodstuffs, clothing, and other essential items, but people are not buying,We used to sell a lot, but now, we’re lucky if we sell a quarter of our stock. It’s really affecting us,” Sister Adwoa a trader lamented.

The market women are appealing to the government and stakeholders to support them with initiatives that will boost their sales and sustain their businesses. “We’re not asking for much, just something to help us sell our products and make a living,” they said.
