The Minority in Parliament has announced a new date for its upcoming protest, demanding the removal of the Bank of Ghana’s Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison and his two deputies. The protest, initially scheduled for July 30, will now take place on August 13.

In a letter to the police on Tuesday, July 23, the Minority cited a scheduling conflict with the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) 2024 campaign launch in Tamale on July 27 as the reason for the date change.

In accordance with sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Public Order Act 1994 (Act 491), they have submitted a formal request to reschedule the demonstration previously set for Tuesday, July 30, 2024, to Tuesday, August 13, 2024. The demonstration will still take place between 8 am and 6 pm, and the designated route remains unchanged.

The Minority explained that the rescheduling of the protest was necessary because many of its members would be attending the NDC’s 2024 campaign launch in Tamale on July 27, leaving them with inadequate time to prepare for the protest on the original date of July 30. By moving the protest to August 13, the Minority aims to ensure full participation and proper preparation for the event.
