Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, emphasized the importance of Ghana’s ocean resources Speaking at the the commissioning of new patrol boats for the Ghana Police Service’s marine police unit, Muntaka highlighted the need for sustainable management to benefit citizens and preserve the health of the oceans.
He assured that the new vessels would significantly enhance the units’ operational capacity, enabling effective patrolling of Ghana’s waters, swift response to emergencies, and prevention of maritime crimes.
The patrol boats will be utilized for surveillance, patrolling, rescue operations, and supporting efforts to combat transnational organized crime, including human trafficking and drug trafficking.
Mubarak reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the country, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding maritime borders and resources.
