Government has launched the Zongo skills project, a project aimed at enrolling more than a 100,000 unemployed Zongo youth in the country.

Zongo Development Minister, Mustapha Hamid, in an address at the launch of the project urged enterprising youth living in Zongo communities across the country to take advantage of the opportunity by government to further enhance their skills.

“Poverty and ignorance are the greatest enemies in our Zongo communities. Make use of this opportunity and develop yourselves. Learn a trade to gain your financial freedom,” he said.

Keynote speaker for the launch, Rashida Saani Nasamu in her address urged Muslim youth not to be cowed into programs they do not have interest in but rather be decisive about what they want and work towards it.

The Chief Executive Officer of I-Zar Group tasked participants to pay attention to their personal branding adding that it was the key to a thriving business.
“The future of business is branding and the beginning of branding is self-branding. Take your personal branding seriously, ” she said.

Executive Director of the Institute for Youth Development, initiators of the Zongo Skills Project said the project is an initiative to curb the increasing numbers of youth unemployment in the Zongo communities.

According to Mahmoud Jajah, , the project is not limited to the Muslim youth but anybody who is willing to learn a trade.

The Zongo Skills project seeks to enroll unemployed youth in Zongo communities into any trade of their choice.
