People are shifting focus of Ghanaians from National issues – Nii Lantey Vanderpuye

The Member of Parliament MP for Odododiodoo constituency, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye says the prominence being given to the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) internal issues, is an attempt to shift the focus of Ghanaians from national issues.
Speaking on the AM Show on Joy News TV on Thursday, Mr. Vanderpuye said there are issues like petrol price increase and other factors that should be focused on rather than the leaked “fake” Kwesi Botchwey committee report.
“Instead of people focusing on how people are using sole sourcing to get products to fight fall armyworms, and people using sole sourcing to get GPS that is fake, unreliable pirated and plagiarized, people are shifting the focus of Ghanaians”, he said.
“There has been petrol price increase over the period by 45% and electricity tariffs have gone up by 200%, these are the things that Ghanaians are interested in and not about the Kwasi Botchwey report of the NDC,” he added.
Co-panelist, Mr. Patrick Yaw Boamah who is the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, took a jab at him for that statement.
According to Mr. Boamah, if Mr. Vanderpuye claims the NPP has underperformed so far, then the people should be interested in on-goings in a government-in-waiting.
On Monday, October 23, Joy News laid hands on leaked documents from the NDC’s Kwesi Botchwey Committee Report which outlines the reasons that led to the heavy defeat of the party in the general elections held on December 7, 2016, and strategies for moving forward.
Some members of the NDC including Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Mr. Ade Coker and Nii Lantey Vanderpuye have openly denied the authenticity of the document.
Nii Lantey Vanderpuye believes the leaked document is just a product of malice.
“We have met and have resolved, we have examined the media document and come to a conclusion that, what is going round is not our report, what somebody has done is just picking pieces and pieces from here and there putting them together, he told Mamavi Owusu Aboagye, the host of AM Show on Joy News TV on Thursday.
