The Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni-Valley, Robert Wisdom Cudjoe, has accused the government of dishonesty, lack of commitment, and insufficient attention to revitalizing the Future Global Resources (FGR) Bogoso Prestea Mine.

In a press statement on June 13, the MP claimed that the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Minerals Commission of Ghana have failed to fulfill numerous promises to revitalize the mine.

Referring to a statement from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources dated April 25, 2024, Mr. Cudjoe urged the government to cancel FGR’s mining lease to allow other investors to take over and invest in the mine.
He also called on the Ministry and the Minerals Commission to act swiftly to protect the livelihoods of over 1,500 workers and their families and to sustain the local economy of the Bogoso-Prestea communities.

“I urge my constituents to join me and the NDC in fighting for the development and progress of the constituency,” part of the statement read.
