The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly causing fear and panic through a viral video in which he posed as a bandit and issued threatening remarks.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, April 8, the Police said the suspect, identified as Evans Puplampu, was arrested on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Ashaiman Community 22 following intelligence gathering and surveillance operations.
The video, which circulated widely on TikTok, showed the suspect with his face covered under the caption “We are starting from Ghana churches,” sparking widespread concern among the public.
Police investigations revealed that the suspect admitted during interrogation to being the individual in the video.
He explained that he had imitated a similar trending pose on social media for amusement and had no intention of causing harm or panic.
A Samsung Galaxy A15 mobile phone believed to have been used in recording and sharing the video has been retrieved and kept as evidence.
The suspect remains in Police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be put before court to face justice.
