The Ghana Police Service says it has put in place comprehensive security measures nationwide to ensure the safety of the public during activities marking Wednesday, December 31, as Ghanaians usher in the New Year.
In a statement, the Police said officers have been deployed across communities, major towns, entertainment centres and along key highways, with patrols intensified to maintain law and order throughout the festive period.
Traffic officers will also be stationed at major intersections to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and facilitate the movement of people and vehicles, especially during peak hours.
According to the Police, special security arrangements have been made at public gathering venues, including churches, event grounds and other locations expected to attract large crowds for watch night services and celebrations.
The Service has urged the public to cooperate fully with officers on duty, remain vigilant and look out for one another, particularly neighbours who may be away from home.
Members of the public have also been encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activities to the Police through the emergency lines 0302773906, 18555, 191 or 112.
The Ghana Police Service wish all Ghanaians a safe, peaceful and happy New Year.
