Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, has been questioned by the Police CID over Wednesday night’s gruesome murder of investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale, a key member of the private investigative firm, Tiger Eye PI.

Ahmed, described by family and work colleagues as an affable young man ready always to lend a hand, was gunned down in his car Wednesday night at Madina in Accra by two ride-by shooters. They shot him three times, killing him instantly.

The police’s questioning of the New Patriotic Party member of parliament is in relation to a video circulating on various social media platforms in which Mr Agyapong is purported to have called on the public to assault Ahmed, the now slain journalist who is an associate of ace investigator cum journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

In excerpts of the viral video, Mr Ken Agyapong who appears to be on a show on his television station, NET2 Television, displayed pictures of Ahmed, and described him as a dangerous man and told viewers that he lived in Madina.

Mr Agyapong is also heard in the widely circulated video charging the public to assault Ahmed and that he was ready to pay for the consequences.

When contacted, the Director General of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr David Eklu confirmed that the police had interviewed Mr Agyapong.

However, he said Mr Agyapong, who has already denied any link to the murder, told the police that the video which was in circulation was not a true representation of what he said as it was not the full version.

Mr Eklu said the police have, therefore, requested NET2 Television to submit the full version of the video to the police for its analysis.

Appeal
Meanwhile, the Accra Regional Police Command has appealed to the public to volunteer information that would lead to the arrest of the suspected killers of Ahmed.

They have also mounted a manhunt for the unknown assailants who were on an unregistered motorbike.

Eye Witness
Speaking to the Daily Graphic, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mrs Effia Tenge said the police control room received information at about 10pm on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 about the shooting.

Two unknown men allegedly shot the associate of the private investigative firm, Tiger Eye PI, while he was driving near the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Madina Estate, in the Greater Accra region.

When a police patrol team went to the scene they found Ahmed in a BMW saloon car with registration number AS 1928-Q with bullet wounds on him.

According to Mrs Tenge, an eye witness told the police that Ahmed was shot three times through the driver side of the car. He was taken to the Pentecost Hospital, Madina for treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Family sources tell Graphic Online that Ahmed would be buried Friday in keeping with Islamic traditions.
