Vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged women especially traders to be understanding towards their husbands who are struggling to provide financial support due to worsening economic conditions.

Speaking to market women in Dunkwa Mfoum in the Central Region, she acknowledged the difficulties faced by Ghanaians, particularly those involved in trade and small-scale businesses. She assured them that the NDC recognizes these challenges and announced plans for a Women’s Development Bank under a future NDC government.

This bank aims to offer women easier access to credit without the need for collateral and high interest rates. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted that the initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance the lives of women in Ghana, with over one million women expected to benefit from the loans to support their businesses and improve their economic well-being. She advised women to be patient with their husbands, noting that economic mismanagement has led to job losses and business struggles, making it difficult for them to provide financial support.
