Justin Frimpong Kodua, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for the resignation of underperforming government appointees.

His remarks, made during the party’s Thanksgiving Service in Accra on Friday, December 22, underscored the urgency of addressing issues that could potentially jeopardize the party’s electoral prospects in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

“If you’re a CEO, deputy, MMDCE, and you assess and realize you’re tired, step down. Don’t sabotage the party. It is time for reshuffle in governance. I will plead with the President – I know there have been talks – it is time for changes within the government,” Kodua declared.

The General Secretary expressed concern that the actions of non-performing officials could undermine the hard-earned electoral gains of the party, emphasizing the need for a strategic reshuffling of government positions.

His call for resignation was accompanied by a plea to President Akufo-Addo to consider reshaping the government to bring in new faces and perspectives.

“It is time for some changes in the government for us to see new faces to continue. We believe if we get new appointments, we will be able to retain power in the next election,” he asserted, addressing the gathering at the party’s headquarters.

The event, attended by prominent party figures, including President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, marked a significant moment in the party’s internal discussions about governance and performance.
