Pressure Group, OccupyGhana has called for the dismissal of Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, George Ayisi Boateng, should he fail to render unqualified apology to Ghanaians over his reckless statement.
Mr Ayisi Boateng over the weekend while addressing members of the Kumasi Technical University branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy Network (TESCON) of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) stated emphatically that he’ll serve members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) first before any other Ghanaian when they need support.
According to him, solving the problems of NPP members in South Africa is his topmost priority, a position he’s made clear to Ghanaians in that country.
There have been widespread condemnation of the Ghanaian envoy over the comments he made which were deemed undiplomatic and divisive.
In a statement issued by the Group, OccupyGhana on Wednesday, read in part” we cannot condone such statements, and we condemn them in no uncertain terms as unbefitting of an envoy and holder of a high privileged diplomatic office.”
The statement added: “We demand from Mr. Ayisi Boateng, an unqualified apology to the people of Ghana for both his appalling initial comments and his subsequent statement expressing lack of remorse. We call on the NPP and government to denounce the statement and demand a full retraction and apology.”
The group urged the President not to hesitate to sack Mr. Ayisi as Ghana’s envoy, if he should fail to apologize immediately.
