In the aftermath of the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s (CAS) ruling that overturned all punishments imposed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), including a ban on 21 players, the Vice President of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), Joseph Tettey Zuta, has issued a strong caution to players against misconduct on and off the field.
The recent ruling by CAS came as a result of the GFA’s Disciplinary Committee decision that had initially sanctioned 21 players involved in a match that ended 7-0 in favor of AshantiGold at the Len Clay stadium in Obuasi.
In an exclusive interview on Happy FM’s Happy Sports, Tettey Zuta emphasized the importance of upholding sportsmanship and discipline among players, regardless of the outcome of arbitration cases.
While the CAS ruling may have cleared the players of their previous sanctions, the PFAG Vice President urged them not to misinterpret this decision as a license to engage in any form of misbehavior.

“Players must understand that the ruling from CAS does not in any way condone or excuse unruly behavior both on and off the pitch,” Tettey Zuta stated. “We, as the PFAG, are committed to promoting fair play and ensuring that players adhere to the highest standards of professionalism.”
The match between Inter Allies and AshantiGold had sparked controversy, leading to disciplinary actions against players involved. However, CAS’s decision to overturn those punishments has generated mixed reactions within the Ghanaian football community.
Tettey Zuta, while respecting the ruling, highlighted the need for players to act responsibly and respect the game’s values.
“We respect the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and we must abide by it. However, this should not overshadow the core principles of sportsmanship and integrity,” Tettey Zuta commented.
