Security expert Richard Kumadoe has voiced his deep concern about the growing threats faced by broadcasters in their line of duty.

According to him “the recent invasion of UTV has not only put media personalities at risk but also jeopardized the freedom of the press, a cornerstone of our government”.

Mr. Kumadoe in an interview on Happy 98.9 FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ with host, Sefah-Danquah, called on media house owners and stakeholders to prioritize security measures on their premises and the personal safety of their staff. He emphasized the need for hiring qualified security personnel and enhancing public safety and security awareness programs for media professionals.

Warning of the potential consequences, Kumadoe stated, “If we do not address this issue promptly, it will continue to expose journalists to vulnerabilities that unscrupulous individuals can exploit, resulting in tragic losses like Noah Dameh and Ahmed Hussein-Suale.”

The chaotic invasion on Saturday serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat to free speech and the media, highlighting the psychological trauma that media personalities endure as a result.
