Godfred Bokpin, manager of Hip-life artiste Patapaa has confirmed that he’s severed ties with the ‘One Corner’ hit maker.
In an interview with Dr. Cann on Happy FM’s Showbiz Xtra, Godfred Bokpin said, the one-time hit maker was humble when they started business last year but has drastically changed after he gained fame following his hit song, ‘One Corner’.
“Things are not going well, you know how some of the artiste behaves these days, some are difficult to handle. I will not sit here and fake issues. Patapaa has changed completely, am expecting him to be humble but I believe because of fame he is behaving differently,” he said.
Asked whether there was an official contract between him and the Swedru-based artiste, he answered, “There was no contract, from the beginning I didn’t sign any contract because I told him I wasn’t really interested in managing him, I just wanted to help him.”
Godfred added, “When Patapaa’s Parents saw the progress they decided that, I should still continue to work with Patapaa, but it got to a point when he started trending, you see different people and what he normally say is that, these are people who have helped me some years ago and so on.”
He added “Any time I want us to work about anything to do with papers, he won’t show up and you never see him. That is where I have a problem with him.”
He further added, “I went to the registration office of GHAMRO to register his track, but they [GHAMRO] demanded for a management letter, however I spoke to him that we needed the management letter so it can be possible, but Patapaa deliberately indicated that it is not relevant.”
“I informed him that, we should push his brand so if any money comes in we must just focus on pushing him. However it got to a time when the money comes he wants to take all,” he indicated.
He continued “Can you imagine, I can arranged for a concert, and if the concert is about thirty minutes for it to commence you will not see him again with his phones off as well.
Patapaa confirmed that Mr Bogkin is indeed his manager when contacted via a phone call to react to the claims; however he insisted everything is well between them.
Godfred claimed he discovered Patapaa through Akambo event in Central Region.
