The Technical University Senior Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) has announced a nationwide strike scheduled to commence on Monday, January 8, 2024.

The decision was made by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of TUSAAG in pursuit of their demand for full compliance with the conditions of the roll-over of the retirement date, as specified in the relevant sections of the Conditions of Service.

In a formal statement released by the Association, the impending industrial action is intended to underscore their commitment to achieving the outlined conditions.

The NEC emphasized that the strike would result in the complete cessation of all administrative and professional services, impacting various university units, sections, departments, faculties, centers, directorates, halls of residence, finance, ICT services, physical development, facilities maintenance services, and other main and general services, including the offices of the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, and the Registrar.

“The strike action shall mean the outright cessation of all administrative and professional services (including all services for both fresh and continuing students), withdrawal of services at all Units, Sections, Departments, Faculties, Centres, Directorates, Halls of Residence, Finance, ICT Services, physical development, facilities maintenance services, as well as all other main and general services (at the offices of the Vice-Chancellor, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar),” portions of the statement read.

TUSAAG’s NEC insisted that the strike would persist until the conditions of the roll-over of the retirement date, as stipulated in the conditions of Service, are fully implemented by the Management of all Technical Universities.

“By this correspondence, all members of the Association are to take note, and act accordingly,” the statement concluded.

Concerns are being raised about possible delays to academic and administrative activity in Technical Universities throughout the nation as the strike approaches. The Association’s call for compliance now sets the stage for negotiations between TUSAAG and university management in the coming days.
