Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Global Media Alliance, Ernest Boateng has challenged Ghanaian students and youth at large to think of universal innovative solutions to conquering local problems hence adding value in cooperate space.

Speaking on the topic “Strategic Positioning of University Graduates to Deploy Digital Communication Skills for the Global Job Market” during the third edition of the Guest Lecture Series organized by the Faculty of Information Technology & Communication Studies of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Mr. Boateng advised students to embrace and harness their skill set with rapid developments in the modern digital world.

He urged students to “think global, act local” and focus on building skills that can be applied in both local and global job markets. “The world is constantly evolving, and we need to keep up with the pace to remain relevant in our fields,” he added.

Mr. Boateng highlighted the importance of keeping up with the latest trends and adapting to different cultures and languages to improve efficiency in the cooperate world. He emphasized the need for students to be tech-savvy and stay informed about the current trends in their chosen fields.

“To save money, companies look for cost-effective people to employ. Hence, to beat this, you need to equip yourself with information and current trends of your various sectors. Like we say the quality of your decisions is based on the amount of information you have,” he said.

Mr. Boateng also advised students to avail themselves for experiences through “personality studies, internships and attachments and make sure you make your value counts wherever space you find yourself.”

He also emphasized the importance of knowing how to use various social media platforms such as LinkedIn for professional networking and other platforms for private and social interactions.

He further acknowledged the downsides of technology including technical difficulties, high cost of data and security issues as he reiterated that modern digital advances go beyond social media and encompass artificial intelligence systems and advances.

Mr. Boateng was presented with a profound citation from the Department of Communication Studies and the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies. In between what was an impactful lecture, there was room for some questions and answers as many students from the faculty got the privilege to interact with experts from the GMA team.

The lecture was chaired by Dr. Edwin Tetteh Ayenor and saw the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies, Prof. Emmanuel S. Asamoah, Head of the Department of Communication Studies, Dr. Adwoa S. Amankwah and other faculty members, a large audience of students and industry professionals who were inspired by Mr. Boateng’s words. The event was a great opportunity for students to learn from an experienced professional and gain valuable insights into the digital communication industry.
