Thomas Partey was reportedly scheduled to get married on Saturday—just one day after being formally charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
On Friday, the CPS charged the Ghanaian midfielder with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, following a three-year investigation. The charges involve allegations made by three different women. The development comes just four days after Partey’s contract with Arsenal expired, following unsuccessful negotiations over a new deal.
Reports suggest that the charges were announced just a day before Partey was due to wed in Spain.
Partey became engaged to English model and influencer Janine Mackson in the summer of 2024. Earlier that year, the couple welcomed their first child—a daughter. Following the 2023/24 Premier League season, which saw Arsenal finish second to Manchester City, Partey was seen introducing Mackson and their baby daughter to manager Mikel Arteta during a post-match moment.
In June, Mackson shared images from what appeared to be a bachelorette trip to Ibiza, captioning one post: “A weekend full of love.” Partey liked the post on Instagram, further fuelling speculation about their upcoming wedding.
As of now, it remains unclear whether the ceremony will proceed as planned.Partey and his Legal team have however come out to debunk the said charges.
