U.S. President Donald Trump has called on the European Union to impose tariffs of up to 100% on China and India, aiming to cut off key financial support to Russia amid escalating attacks on Ukraine.
“China and India are major buyers of Russian oil. We need to hit them hard to force Putin to end this war,”.
The proposal comes as Russia intensifies its aerial bombardment across Ukraine, including a missile strike on Kyiv’s government building and a deadly glide bomb attack in Donbas that killed over 20 civilians.
Trump, who plans to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days, said he was “not happy with the whole situation” and warned of harsher sanctions.
Meanwhile, Trump expressed optimism about ongoing trade talks with India, writing on Truth Social that a “successful conclusion” was expected soon. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi echoed the sentiment, calling the U.S. a “close friend and natural partner.”
