Ghana U-23 head caoch, Ibrahim Tanko will be banging his hopes on the results in the final group game between Egypt-Cameroon which will determine his team’s chances of progressing to the semi-finals.

The Black Meteors threw away a two-goal lead against Egypt as the Olympic Pharoahs came from behind to beat the Meteors 3-2 on Monday in match day two of the Africa U-23 championship at the Cairo International Stadium.

The result leaves Black Meteors with just a point after two games and they must win against Mali in the final game to have a chance of progressing.

Tanko after the defeat has switched focus to Ghana’s third group game against Mali to be played at the Al Salem Stadium in Cairo.

The Malians are without a win in the competition after losing to Egypt and Cameroon in the two previous games.

Speaking at the post match conference, Tanko congratulated the Egyptians for securing qualification to the semi-finals and hoped they will do Ghana a favor in their final game against Cameroon at the Cairo International Stadium.

“We played a great game but lost in the end, this is football. I congratulate Egypt on qualifying”.

“We will play to win against Mali and hope for a favorable result from Egypt match against Cameroon”.

The final group game will be played simultaneously on Thursday 14 November, 2019

Ghana’s Olympic dream still hangs on if Egypt are able to beat Cameroon and Ghana recording a 2-0 win over Mali.
