Wednesday’s top match see another narrative of a leading striker coming up against a former team, as Manchester City welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad Stadium. Norwegian marksman Erling Haaland swapped BVB for the Citizens in the transfer window and will no doubt be looking forward to finding the back of the net against them.
“He came for that. When you have a feeling he is not involved in the game he is always there,” said City manager Pep Guardiola of Haaland’s ability to pop up out of nowhere and score. “As a striker it is incredible. He does not touch the ball, but he has a feeling the ball is there and he is always involved.”
Wednesday also features Real Madrid welcoming RB Leipzig to the Spanish capital, an intriguing clash between Juventus and Benfica in Turin, and Chelsea hosting RB Salzburg at Stamford Bridge in London.
