In a dramatic turn of events, United States President Donald J. Trump has announced a complete and total ceasefire between Israel and Iran, marking the end of what is now being referred to as the “12-Day War.”
The announcement, shared via Trump’s official social platform, outlined a staged ceasefire process, beginning with Iran halting its operations and Israel following 12 hours later.
According to Trump, the war will officially be considered over after 24 hours of mutual calm. “CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!” Trump wrote in all caps. “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE… for 12 hours, at which point the war will be considered, ENDED!”
He explained that Iran would initiate the ceasefire, followed by Israel on the 12th hour, with the world marking the 24th hour as the end of the war. “During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL,” the statement emphasized.
This announcement comes after a tense escalation in the Middle East, sparked by targeted U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s key nuclear facilities — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan — which Trump had touted as a “successful strike.” The attack marked the U.S.’s entry into a rapidly intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran, following a week of high-level deliberations in Washington.
In a previous statement, Trump cautioned Iran’s leadership to either choose peace or “gear up for greater attacks,” warning that any continued aggression could lead to a full-blown regional disaster.
The strikes, he claimed, were intended to cripple Iran’s nuclear threat and send a clear message of deterrence.
Described as a victory for diplomacy and strength, Trump has congratulated both Israel and Iran “on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end what should be called THE 12 DAY WAR.”
Trump at the latter part of the statement extend well wishes to both parties and express enthusiasm for the ammicable ends ahead. “God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!”
Although many around the world remain cautiously optimistic, global leaders and analysts are expected to monitor both countries closely to see if the ceasefire holds.
