The editor of the Overseer newspaper, Bright Asadu has appealed to government not to politicize the Education sector especially WAEC.

According to him, WAEC issues must be treated as priority.

In an interview with Kwadwo Sefah-Danquah on Happy fm 98.9 morning show, Mr Boadu said it would be very pathetic for the 2024 BECE exams slated for Monday 8th-15th July to be postponed because of the over GHC 90 million needed by WAEC to organize the examination.

” The WAEC body operates within a cycle so the moment there is any change, it will have rippling effects within the cycle, long term or short term”. If the time allocated for the BECE to be conducted delays, the time for marking the exams papers, release of the results and the time the children will report to SHS will also delay”.

He also described the Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annor Dompreh’s statement about the release GHC 80 million to the WAEC council when in actual fact, only GHC 47.125 million was received by WAEC as political gimmick which can negatively affect the BECE candidates
