The Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, has called for unity among constituents and party faithful ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 Presidential primaries slated for January 2026.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new constituency office on Sunday, September 28, 2025, the MP emphasized that he has not endorsed any candidate and will not influence others to support a particular aspirant.

He urged party members to remain respectful and mindful in their conduct before, during, and after the primaries.

“This election is about choosing a leader who will carry the party into the 2028 general elections,” he said. “At the end of the day, any of the candidates, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kennedy Agyapong, Kwabena Agyapong, Bryan Acheampong, or Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum could emerge victorious. There is no need for divisive or violent campaigning.”

Shaib also addressed concerns that the office opening was politically motivated, clarifying that the facility is meant to serve all residents of the constituency, not just NPP members.

He encouraged constituents to see the office as a hub for development and collaboration.

He appealed for patience from the public, assuring them of his commitment to improving the constituency’s infrastructure and services.

On environmental issues, the MP criticized the Mahama-led administration for its handling of illegal mining, warning of the potential threat to the Weija water treatment plant.

“Let’s hope and pray that what happened to the Kwanyako plant doesn’t happen here otherwise, we are doomed,” he cautioned.
