Akwasi Agyeman, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority(GTA), has expressed that all the big events scheduled for December will still come off.

He made this assurance in a virtual interview with host, Fati Shaibu-Ali on the second edition of the Global Media Alliance Webinar Series, discussing the impact of Covid-19 on the events and hospitality industry.

Akwasi Agyemang stated that December in GH this year will be heavily promoted with last year’s biggest events, Afrochella and Afronation as the anchors.

“December in GH will still happen quite strongly. It is something that we’re working on so we’ve signed an agreement with Afronation and Afrochella. It’s all in works”, he said.

Last year, Afronation and Afrochella, as part of the Year of Return initiative, attracted almost a hundred-thousand people, both Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians; that is a nine hundred percent increase in the number of visitors to the country.

“We’re going to promote that strongly as a main attraction especially for the African diaspora and the third-generation Ghanaians”, Mr. Akwasi revealed.
