Where Are They?: We shouldn’t restrict our talented players – John Mensah

Former Okwahu United player, John Mensah, has advised Ghanaian coaches to allow young players exhibit their talent and not restrict them too much on the field.

According to him, currently, the Ghanaian game has changed with players resorting to only kick and pass.

This he said has contributed to the poor attendance at match venues.

Speaking in an interview on Happy 98.9FM on Where Are They? program, he said,“If you watch Ghana football now, it’s just break and pass. Hardly do you see a player who is able to take players on in a game.”

“Currently the game has progressed financially but the quality has reduced juxtaposing it with our time. The game now is not what it used to be. I will urge the coaches not to restrict the players too much.

“They should allow the gifted players to express their talents on the pitch. The break and pass is too much. We should get players who can hold onto the ball like Abdul Fatawu Issahaku of Dreams. Those are the kind of players we need in our league to make it look good”.

“I will plead with the coaches to allow the talented players to express themselves and not restrict them too much. They need guidance and also polish the talents”, he added.
