The Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has challenged the newly sworn-in board of Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) to explore the possibility of merging AESL with the Public Works Department (PWD).
This strategic proposal is aimed at streamlining public sector consultancy to enhance productivity and maximize national development outcomes.
Minister Adjei highlighted AESL’s strong legacy of professionalism and technical competence, stressing that combining efforts with PWD could significantly increase their national impact.
He urged the board to critically evaluate the idea, taking into account both the potential benefits and any institutional or policy obstacles.
Their insights will inform the Ministry’s direction on the merger and its implications for infrastructure delivery and government consultancy services.
This initiative forms part of the government’s broader agenda to modernize and align overlapping functions within the public sector for greater efficiency and value creation.
