A coordinated security sweep by the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region has led to the arrest of 14 suspected gunmen and the recovery of a significant cache of weapons and ammunition.
The cordon and search operation was conducted between 3:30 p.m. and 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 15, 2025, as part of ongoing efforts to curb violence and restore peace in Bawku and its neighboring communities, which have recently been gripped by deadly clashes and sporadic gunfire.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue, with authorities promising swift action to bring those responsible to justice.
This development comes after a particularly violent week in the Bawku and Binduri districts, where over 14 individuals lost their lives and numerous homes were destroyed by fire between June 7 and June 14.
Several victims remain hospitalized with injuries sustained during the attacks.
