The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2023 African Games gave a promising update during a media tour showcasing the progress of essential facilities. The venues that were toured by the media include:

Warm-Up Field:
This area will exclusively serve athletes as they prepare for their competitions.

Main Athletic Track:
The central stage for track and field events, where athletes from across Africa will compete for glory.

Rugby Field:
A specialized field for rugby matches, demonstrating the event’s commitment to various sports.

Games Village:
The hub of activity where athletes will reside during the Games, fostering camaraderie and a sense of community.

Botey Man Project:
An integral part of the preparations, this project’s completion will contribute to the overall success of the event.

After the tour, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, the Executive Chairman of the LOC, addressed the press, assuring that all contractors are committed to finishing these facilities by December 20th. Originally allocated six months for promotion, the LOC now has a two-month window to intensify awareness and publicity for the Games.

Dr. Decius Chipande, the Coordinator of the African Union Sports Council (AUSC), also expressed satisfaction with the progress during the tour. He shared optimism about the completion of these facilities in December, setting the stage for a successful competition.

The 13th African Games, Accra 2023, is scheduled for March 8, 2024, featuring 23 disciplines, including chess as a new addition, with eight Olympic qualifier events. Originally planned for August of the previous year, the Games were rescheduled to March due to a misunderstanding among major stakeholders. Despite this delay, the LOC is committed to hosting a spectacular and memorable multi-sport event.
