Ghana’s opening game in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers ended in a narrow defeat following a late winner from the Palancas Negras of Angola at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

A late minute goal from Milson in the 91st minute broke the heart of Ghanaians at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium who were hoping to salvage a point from the game.

The game was closely contested from the start of the whistle to the end but Ghana’s attack couldn’t utilize the chances they created in the game as they were published in the final minutes.

The defeat weakens Ghana’s position in Group D as they drop to the third position with game winner’s Angola jumping to the first position in group.

Former Black Stars coach, James Kwesi Appiah and his Sudan team will move to the second position in Group D after beating Niger 1-0 in their opening game on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

The Black Stars will play their second game against Niger in Morocco on Monday, September 10, 2024, and will be hoping to secure their first victory in the qualifiers.
