Hearts, Kotoko Seek Top 4 Finish – Liberty Fights For Survival As GPL Ends Today

Liberty Professionals enter today’s Ghana Premier League match at home against FA Cup champions, Bechem United, knowing that only a win can help them survive relegation in the last game of the season.

Liberty are 14th on the log with 35 points and, this particular match is a must-win for the Scientific Soccer Lads who must avoid any slip against their safer opponents at the Carl Reindolf Park at Dansoman in Accra. Coach George Lamptey needs to psyche his troops to put the salary arrears brouhaha behind them and focus on helping the club to avoid exiting the top flight by beating Bechem, who on the other hand, will seek to win to brighten their top four chances. The likes of Latif Blessing, skipper Samuel Sarfo, Kennedy Ashia and Daniel Kordie, among others, must be at their best tomorrow to snatch the much-needed victory.
In the other relegation battle, all eyes will be on the Golden City Park at Berekum where Chelsea welcome Techiman City in a make or break affair as both clubs are tied on 37 points.
The match remains a titanic duel since a win for either side means relegation for the other, with Chelsea keen on seeking home comfort to go through.
Similarly, Inter Allies also face a tough test to remain in the elite division at Dormaa-Ahenkro where a wounded Aduana Stars side are bent on ending the season on a high note by winning to secure a top four ticket.
Allies, also on 37 points, need to win at all cost in a difficult terrain against the disappointed Aduana Stars who lost the title to Wa All Stars in mid-week, while Ebusua Dwarfs travel to Dawu to lock horns with Dreams FC in a frantic bid to stay clear of trouble.
Dwarfs have to play above themselves to claim at least a point against eighth-placed Dreams FC, who have avoided relegation with their 40 points but might still want to appease their fans with a win in their final home game of the season.
Uncrowned Premier League champions, Wa All Stars, will be hosted by already-relegated Sekondi Hasaacas at Essipong with nothing at stake for both sides, except pride.
The highlight of this match will be the coronation of All Stars as league champions for the first time in their history.
In other encounters, Hearts of Oak will hope to end their disappointing campaign with an away win over relegated New Edubiase; Asante Kotoko have vowed to redeem their image with a home win over WAFA at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, while last season’s champions, Ashantigold, travel to Tarkwa to face Medeama SC at the T&A Park.
