'I Will Bounce Back'- Stephen Adams Speaks After Winning WORST Goalkeeper of the Year

Winner of the Happy FM Golden Bin Awards for  Worst Goalkeeper in the 2016 GPL, Stephen Adams, has promised to bounce back from the slump that saw him losing his number one slot at Aduana Stars to Joseph Addo.
Adams, who has spent over six seasons with the Dormaa based Ghana Premier League club, blamed his poor run in the just ended season to injury and vowed that he would take inspiration from the award to reclaim his number one slot.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports after he was named Worst Goalkeeper in the 2016 GPL, Dida as he is affectionately called, further revealed that he would want a move away from the club if they are able to secure a good deal for him.
“I don’t think I was a total flop during the season. I got a foot injury and that is what hampered my progress in the course of the season. I played five straight games before I got injured. When we played against Chelsea, I couldn’t come out for the second half. Injuries marred my season. I have been consistent for Aduana for over five years but unfortunately, I encountered some challenges this year but I’ll definitely bounce. I am a very strong person and everyone around me knows this.” Stephen Adams told Happy FM.
“I am ready to move on from Aduana Stars. They have treated me very well so I cannot turn my back against them but if any team expresses interest in me and they talk to Nana and they all agree, I’ll leave.” He added.
Stephen Adams, who was part of Ghana’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, said the award will tend to encourage him to be better next season.
“I’m home so I’m ready to take the award. I’m sure that even when I see it, it will motivate to do better in the next season.” Stephen Adams concluded.
Adams polled 56% of total votes cast to beat off competition from Soulama Abdoulaye, Eric Ofori Antwi, Kwame Baah, Muntari Tagoe and Osei Kwame.
Happy FM’s Golden Bin Awards (Bindone d’Oro) is meant to motivate players with exceptional qualities and abilities, who failed to live up to expectation in the year under review, to lift up their game and put in a better performance the following season.
The final shortlist of six was done through votes cast by fans with inputs from some coaches and journalists. However, voting for the winner was solely from fans.
There will be awards for the Worst Defender, Worst Midfielder, Worst Striker, Overall Worst Player, Worst CEO, Worst Match Commissioner and Worst Referee.
