General Secretary of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Citizen Ato Dadzie has expressed strong disapproval of the approach taken by the Minister for Trade and Industry K.T. Hammond, with cement manufacturers.

In an interview with Bismark Brown on Happy98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben show, Ato Dadzie stated that while concerns about the steady increase in cement prices are shared by all Ghanaians, the Minister’s method of addressing the issue was inappropriate and unacceptable. He criticized the Minister for calling a meeting with cement manufacturers without providing a clear agenda, leaving them unprepared and unaware of the discussions to be held.

Ato Dadzie also condemned the Minister’s decision to invite the media to the meeting without consulting the manufacturers’ association, resulting in a waste of time and resources.

Ato Dadzie emphasized that such actions by the Minister not only demonstrate a lack of respect for the manufacturers but also cause financial losses to the state, as resources are wasted on unnecessary media invitations.

He suggested that KT Hammond could learn from his predecessor, Alan Kyerematen, who implemented effective policies that benefited the country, and urged the Minister to adopt a more constructive and collaborative approach to addressing the issues facing the cement industry.
